Overall Aesthetic for Teens

The design motif for the Jacksonville Giants as it concerned targeting teens was power. Electricity, athleticism forged in fire, the athletes themselves being larger then life. The goals were, in the end, to get families to attend Jacksonville Giants games at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena and have an NBA-like experience. Teens were a huge part of the success in attracting families. The aesthetic of the team was to will teens and families to come have a ball at the Giants Games.

Reading Program

As a designer working for the Jacksonville Giants Basketball team, one of our target audiences was the middle school and high school boys and girls. In particular, the goal was to invite them to Giants Basketball games by getting free tickets after completing the Books for Baskets reading program. The branding had to reach the teen group by being “cool” and having an NBA-like experience. It was through this lens that I created the graphics, flyers, programs, and motion graphics related to Books for Baskets.

Gems Dance Team

Another target audience for teens was the Gems Dance Team. The goals with the Gems was to give teen girls a dance team experience through try-outs, work-like conditions with rehearsals and performances, professional photo shoots, and a pathway into professional dance teams. The media and graphics around the Gems was around beauty and helping them feel like a star.

Through close association with the Professional dance team, the Jewels, the Gems learned through experience what being a professional performer was like.
